Homelea Happy 10ply Merino Wool Yarn – 50g balls
$14.95
It's a joy to crochet with this soft and snuggly 100% Australian grown and processed merino wool!
Homelea Happy is a textural joy to crochet and knit with. It’s slightly thick and thin, and oh so soft and squishy!
This soft merino wool is 100% Australian grown and made without taking a trip overseas – you’re supporting Australian farmers and makers with every stitch. There’s no superwash and no nylon / polyester / acrylic in Homelea Happy, just soft merino wool that will biodegrade back into the soil when it’s no longer needed. #sustainablecrafting
It’s a 10ply or worsted weight yarn and there is 100m (109yds) and 50g (1.7oz) in each ball.
Not sure what to make with it? Find patterns to crochet or knit here.
Hook and needle size – Homelea Bliss is suitable for using crochet hooks and knitting needles that are between 3.5mm (E) and 9mm (M).
Care instructions – to prevent felting it’s important to do a cold, gentle hand wash and lie flat to dry. Wash colours separately.
Good to know – you may find some small pieces of grass in Homelea Happy. I love how this links the making process back to what the sheep was eating when it grew the fibre.
Good to know 2 – Homelea Happy is a soft merino wool yarn and will pill with use. You can keep what you make looking good by giving them a gentle de-pill every now and again.
Good to know 3 – there are slight colour variations within some dye lots and I recommend alternating balls every 1 or 2 rows if this is encountered.
Homelea Happy will be you new favourite yarn!
With love, Lynda.

What fibre is Homelea Happy made from?
Homelea Happy is made with soft merino wool that is grown on Australian farms, and then fully processed within Australia too.
Merino wool is a renewable, biodegradable fibre that is renowned for its softness, but did you know that it thermo-regulates? It feels warm when it’s cold and insulates when it’s hot. Merino sheep live in some of the harshest parts of Australia, protected by the fibre that they grow.
-
What weight is the Homelea Happy yarn?
Homelea Happy 10ply is a worsted weight yarn and is classed as a 4 or medium yarn with 9 wpi (wraps per inch).
It is slightly larger than an 8ply or DK weight yarn and slightly smaller than aran weight yarns. Depending on your unique crocheting and knitting tension, it can be used interchangeably with patterns designed for these yarn sizes.
-
Is Homelea Happy Australian made?
Yes, the soft merino wool in Homelea Happy is grown in Australia, before being fully processed in Australia too. It is certified to use the Australian Made logo.
We love that creating with Homelea Happy 10ply links back to Australian soil, and the tiny pieces of grass it contains is a direct connection to the sheep that grew the wool within our hands.
-
What can I make with Homelea Happy yarn?
We love using Homelea Happy for making blankets, scarves, wraps, jumpers, cardigans and homewares. It feels soft and warm, and the merino wool breathes so you don’t feel over hot.
Homelea Happy responds well to blocking once the item is made. This relaxes the fibres, improves the drape and makes what you’ve made look even better.
-
What does "slightly thick and thin" mean for Homelea Happy?
The thickness or diameter of Homelea Happy varies slightly which means it is slightly thick and thin. It feels textural to crochet and knit with and creates a textile that is slightly uneven and not completely smooth. This makes Homelea Happy a textural delight to create with, the differing thickness creating interest and highlighting the natural beauty of wool.
