skill level – easy

This pattern uses simple stitch patterns and you’ll be able to make it if you’ve done some crocheting before. The video tutorials explain what to do, but it will help if you know how to:

  • do a slip knot and chain stitches
  • double crochet (UK terminology) / single crochet (US terminology)
  • count your rows and stitches
  • fasten off

The seamless joins create a patchwork like blanket, and it’s a mesmerising (and incredibly satisfying) way to join together crocheted squares.

5 colour version, made with 5ply organic cotton (30g per square)

Have a collection of 4ply / fingering weight 20g mini skeins? You’ll have a little bit leftover when crocheting a square with a 2mm crochet hook.
